Since all the documents are transacted online and maintained, it also improves transparency between the insurer and insured.

Buying of health insurance and motor insurance policies is going to be entirely online. From filling up the application form to receiving the policy documents, the process will become entirely digital in the time to come. The IRDAI has issued a circular to all General and Health Insurers, for the issuance of Electronic Policies and dispensing with physical documents and wet signature on the proposal form in respect of health insurance policies.

As per the circular, the IRDAI states that in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the Authority had received representations from the insurance companies for an exemption to all individual and retail health insurance policies issued by general and health insurance companies from the requirement to issue physical policy document and hard copy of proposal

China’s Crypto Currency May Challenge U.S. Dollar Peg in Hong Kong

Showdown looming against the U.S. dollar in Hong Kong.

Photographer: Chesnot/Getty

Money is whatever people will use to swap, store and measure value. Since 1846, Hong Kong residents have relied on notes issued by commercial banks. And for almost four decades, they have been safe in the knowledge that 78 units of  local currency would always fetch 10 U.S. dollars. That certainty has spawned a globally competitive financial center.

But change is on its way. The people of Hong Kong may be asked to try out a new kind of money. Whether they bite could decide the outcome of a great superpower rivalry.

SEC to amend accredited investor definition, widen market access

The Securities and Exchange Commission today adopted amendments to the “accredited investor” definition, one of the principal tests for determining who is eligible to participate in our private capital markets.

Historically, individual investors who do not meet specific income or net worth tests, regardless of their financial sophistication, have been denied the opportunity to invest in our multifaceted and vast private markets. The amendments update and improve the definition to more effectively identify institutional and individual investors that have the knowledge and expertise to participate in those markets.

“Today’s amendments are the product of years of effort by the Commission and its staff to consider and analyze approaches to revising the accredited investor definition,” said Chairman Jay Clayton. “For the first time, individuals will be permitted to participate in our private capital markets not only based on their income or net worth, but also based on established, clear

Here’s what you need to know:

Credit…Will Cioci/Wisconsin Watch, via Associated Press

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Green Party’s presidential candidate will not appear on the state’s presidential ballot, a decision that came as a sigh of relief to election officials who had worried that a wholesale reprinting of thousands of ballots could bring chaos to an already stressed electoral system.

Biden Jr., whose Democratic allies had expressed concern that the presence of a third-party progressive candidate on the ballot could siphon votes away from Mr. Biden and help President Trump.

Both the Biden and Trump campaigns view a path to victory through Wisconsin, which Mr. Trump carried by less than 23,000 votes in 2016.
